Moroccan Actress Detained in Qatar Pleads for Fair Trial Amid Spousal Accusations

Moroccan actress Nawal Ahmed El Ammadi, alias Khouloud in the artistic circles of the Gulf, has been arrested and detained in Qatar. She accuses her husband of "false allegations and set-ups" and calls for respect for her right to a fair trial.
"Detained for more than two months without trial, the Moroccan actress is asking for guarantees for a fair trial, especially since her husband has powers that could influence the normal course of this case," said the actress’s sister. The Moroccan actress "has endured extreme suffering in Qatar where she was forced by her husband to have an abortion, before joining Britain, of which she has nationality, to file a complaint against him," she specifies.
The husband of Nawal, a very wealthy Qatari businessman, "contacted her for an amicable settlement and would have manipulated her to return to Doha" where she found herself in prison on the basis of a complaint for "insult and threat," adds the sister of the actress, stressing that she is still in detention, despite the efforts of her lawyer to obtain a pursuit in a state of provisional release. She also denounces the false information published by local media on this case, damaging her image and "prejudice to her family and her 9-year-old daughter."
The Moroccan actress is crying out for help and asking for the guarantee of her right to a fair trial. She had left Morocco to pursue her studies in London before joining Qatar to work.
