2030 World Cup: Morocco firmly rejects Spain’s claim on the location of the final

The unilateral announcement by Rafael Louzan, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), provoked an immediate reaction from Morocco. Last Tuesday, the Spanish leader claimed that his country would host the tournament’s final match, highlighting Madrid’s logistical experience without specifying the stadium chosen between the Santiago-Bernabéu and the Camp Nou.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has described these remarks as "totally false". Through the voice of its spokesperson, Mohamed Makrouf, the body specified that the location of the final will be determined during a four-way meeting between Morocco, Spain, Portugal and FIFA. To date, this decisive meeting has not yet taken place, leaving the arbitration in suspense.

To weigh in the negotiations, Morocco is counting on the future Hassan II stadium in Casablanca. This large-scale project, scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, is expected to offer a record capacity of 115,000 spectators. Rabat intends to make this venue the trump card of its bid to obtain the prestige of the final match against the historic Spanish infrastructures.

Although Rafael Louzan acknowledged the quality of the Moroccan infrastructures, he also criticized certain episodes of the last Africa Cup of Nations.
