Mondi Expands African Footprint with New $16 Million Packaging Plant in Morocco

The English company Mondi, a global packaging specialist, continues its investments in Morocco, with the commissioning of a new production unit installed in Tangier. This is the group’s 3rd site in Morocco and the 4th on the continent with the one in Côte d’Ivoire.
With an investment of 16 million euros, this new unit will be able to produce up to 100 million paper bags per year, for the packaging of cement, among other materials, according to a press release from the management.
The commissioning of this plant increases Mondi’s total production capacity in Africa to more than 500 million bags per year, the management points out, specifying that the objective is to meet the growing demand from the regional clientele.
Speaking on the occasion, Claudio Fedalto, President in charge of paper bags at Mondi, praised the quality of the Moroccan workforce on the project. "This investment reflects our commitment to strengthening our offer of eco-responsible packaging throughout our value chain. The work started in January 2022 and we have already started production. Such success was only possible thanks to an extremely motivated local team," he said.
