This is the first time that Mohamed has appeared in the top 20 of the Official Names list. According to Stéphanie Rapoport, its co-author, this is not a surprise because, looking at its evolution, it was logical that this name would gain a prominent place among the most given to boys. In her opinion, this is explained by the fact that it is a tradition for Muslim families to name the first boy in the family after the prophet.

Furthermore, Stéphanie Rapoport noted that Mohamed is the most given name to boys worldwide. For the opposite sex, added the co-author of the Official Names, it is Marie and its various linguistic variations like Maria that Spanish-speaking families give to their daughters.
