Missing Moroccan Man Found Alive in Barcelona After TikTok Video Goes Viral

Moroccan Ahmed, a taxi driver at Barcelona’s El Prat airport, helped Oussama, another young man of Moroccan origin who was wandering in the city, to find his family in Morocco thanks to a video posted on TikTok. The young man’s relatives thought he was dead.

The taxi driver was making rounds at the airport to deter "pirate" drivers when he saw Oussama looking for food in the trash cans. Ahmed helped the young man find his family in Morocco who had not heard from him for five years and thought he was dead. "Before being a taxi driver, I’m human. When you see something strange on the street, you have to help," he told Nius.

Ahmed confides that the young Oussama told him that he "lived in Kenitra in Morocco, that he had family in Barcelona, but didn’t know where they were." With the young man’s permission, the taxi driver then recorded and posted a video on TikTok in which he launched an SOS to find his relatives. "I couldn’t help him alone and thanks to the people, the video reached his family in Morocco," details Ahmed.

It was thanks to this video that Oussama’s mother was able to find her son whom she "thought was dead". "She contacted me and said it was her son. She was crying," recounts Ahmed. Unfortunately, the young man had left the airport and Ahmed set out to find him. "I wasn’t going to stop until I found him. If I start something, I have to finish it," he added. This is how he managed to contact Oussama’s relatives living in El Prat and the police, searching for the young man.

Ahmed had to post a second video on TikTok, showing a photo of Oussama and leaving his contact with the Moroccan community of El Prat. One evening, he received a call from someone claiming to be with Oussama. "I told him not to leave and that I would join him after dropping off a client. In the photo, he had let his beard grow and was unrecognizable. I didn’t recognize him," said the taxi driver who informed the young man’s mother. "She was very happy and wanted to pay me, but I refused," he said.
