Mild Earthquake Northern Morocco May 30 No Damage
A slight seismic tremor struck the Al Hoceima province on Saturday evening, May 30. No material damage or loss of life has been reported so far.
Seismic monitoring stations recorded a telluric tremor on Saturday with a magnitude of 2.9 degrees on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located in the douar Aghbar area, attached to the municipality of Rouadi, in the Al Hoceima province.

For several weeks, a succession of low-intensity tremors has struck northern Morocco. A phenomenon directly linked to the tectonic consequences of the Al Haouz tragedy, but which currently poses no danger to the population.

There is no reason to panic, however. This behavior of the Earth’s crust is not unprecedented. In 2021, an identical scenario unfolded off the coasts of Nador and Al Hoceïma, generating thousands of underwater movements before gradually subsiding.
