Migrant Teen Crosses Gibraltar Strait Solo in Inflatable Boat, Rescued by Spanish Coast Guard

A young Sub-Saharan has managed to reach Spanish territorial waters, by crossing the [Strait of Gibraltar] on board an inflatable boat. He was rescued by the Spanish coast guard.
The young man had left the Tangier coast on board a small inflatable boat, before being intercepted at sea by the rescue teams.
Very proud to have been able to accomplish this feat, the Sub-Saharan, who recorded his crossing in a video, said he had left his country two years ago, in the hope of one day reaching Europe.
With the lockdown and the state of emergency, illegal immigration has seen a 21% drop since the beginning of 2020. According to the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, only 211 boats arrived on the Spanish coast this year, compared to 261 last year.
