Mental Health Patient Sparks False Bomb Scare at Descartes High School

A 41-year-old man placed on Monday, near the Lycée Descartes, a kraft bag containing two empty alcoholic beverage bottles wrapped in a ribbon. Taken for a bomb, the high school was evacuated before the searches and investigations made it possible to understand that the package posed no danger.
The individual who placed the bag is a man followed in a mental and psychiatric clinic, indicated on Tuesday the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release. Questioned by the police, he was unable to give the reasons for his act.
Given the incoherence resulting from his abnormal state of health, he was transferred to the Ar-Razi psychiatric hospital in Salé, on the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office, the statement adds. To dispel any doubt, technical expertise was carried out, confirming that the seized kraft bag did not present any threat or danger to the safety of individuals and the security of property.
