French School in Morocco Fires Teacher Over Sexual Misconduct with Minor
The Lycée Descartes de Rabat attached to the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) has dismissed the teacher accused of having "maintained a sexual relationship" with his 14-year-old student.
"A teacher exchanged messages with a student at the school whose content is unacceptable. We condemn them with the utmost firmness," reacted in a statement signed by François Cuilhe, the principal of the Lycée Descartes de Rabat following the revelations of sexual harassment targeting a Franco-Algerian teacher. He also announced the dismissal of the harassing teacher. "As of today, this teacher, a member of the local staff, is no longer part of the school staff and the management is in close contact with the family," the statement concludes.

This dismissal follows the leak of explicit messages on X between this teacher and his student, which prove that the two were very close. Another student at the Lycée Descartes de Rabat who also confirmed the facts claims to have read the conversation between the alleged harassing teacher and the alleged victim. "I read the messages from his phone (that of the student in question, editor’s note) [...] it is indeed the teacher’s account, he subscribed to students and several were following him on his Instagram account," she confirms.
The Lycée Descartes de Rabat would have tried, according to her, to hush up the case before the messages leaked on social networks. The high school student was 14 years old at the time of the events. Today, she is in her final year.
