French Schools in Morocco Reverse Ban on Hijabs for Students

Under pressure, the schools of the French Mission in Morocco have finally had to adopt a new policy: the veil, previously strictly forbidden, is now allowed for female students.
This turnaround is the result of a recommendation issued by the French Minister of Education, reflecting a more open vision within these educational establishments, according to François Cuilhé, principal of the Lycée Descartes, in an email revealed by Belpresse.
This announcement contrasts with a previous decision that had created tensions within the French community in Morocco. The clothing issue has also agitated France recently: a controversy had emerged following the ban on the abaya in schools in the hexagon, a debate that had found an echo within the Moroccan educational environment.
