Melilla Expands Border Facilities for Moroccan Diaspora Transit

The authorities of Melilla have installed a giant 350-meter tent near the border with Morocco and increased the number of public toilets in order to improve the reception conditions for Moroccans living abroad as part of the Marhaba Operation.
"The Ministry of the Environment has carried out new installations at the Beni-Ensar border crossing, including a shaded area and a public bathing area, in order to make the transit of travelers more pleasant," said Minister Hassan Mohatar to the press on Monday after visiting these facilities. The objective is to relieve the Moroccans living abroad who spend several hours waiting at the border as part of the Marhaba Operation, he added.
"We are trying to offer them dignified conditions," insisted Mohatar, specifying that the Melilla Executive plans to acquire the domain where the shaded area has been installed, which is currently rented until September 30 for 40,000 euros, to make these installations permanent and thus be able to use them for future editions of the Marhaba Operation and other purposes.
