Medina halal sausages recalled nationwide in France over salmonella
Medina halal sausages sold at Intermarché and other outlets are being recalled across France because of salmonella contamination. Two sizes are affected, with a use-by date of October 26. The brand had already issued another health alert earlier this month.

One batch, two sizes to check in your refrigerator: a 600-gram poultry sausage or two sausages weighing 1.2 kilos in total. All bear the Medina brand. Their manufacturer, Corico, is asking buyers not to eat them after salmonella was detected.
The notice published on October 19 on RappelConso states that these products were sold from October 13 to 16 at Intermarché and to food-service businesses. The recall applies throughout France.
The products can be identified by a single batch number: 9776000285. The barcodes are 3276440002653 for the 600-gram size and 3276440002677 for the 1.2-kilo size. Their use-by date was Monday, October 26.
Second October alert for Medina
On October 1, the brand had already been subject to another official recall involving halal chicken fillet sausages, also because of salmonella. That recall involved three different batches sold to food-service businesses.
The batch recalled on October 19 is also listed in a second official notice covering other packaging intended for food-service businesses.
Salmonella infection can cause diarrhea, vomiting, fever and headaches, usually six to 72 hours after consumption. Young children, pregnant women, older people and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable.
RappelConso advises consumers to return the affected products to the point of sale for a refund. Anyone who develops symptoms after eating them should consult a doctor and report having consumed the products. The manufacturer also provides a customer service line at 04 74 04 75 75.
