Mbappé vs. Hakimi: Friends Turn Rivals in Epic PSG-Real Madrid Club World Cup Clash

A decisive duel in the semi-final. Friends since the Moroccan international’s arrival at PSG in the summer of 2021, Achraf Hakimi and Kylian Mbappé share the same vision of football and life in general. Separated since the departure of the French international from the Parisian club, the two friends will meet again on Wednesday in the semi-final of the Club World Cup in a direct confrontation. While Kylian had already won a similar duel in the semi-final of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, an in-form Achraf with his newly crowned European champion club could take his revenge.

The Spanish coach of Real Madrid is also aware of the challenge ahead. "I think right now, (Luis Enrique) is transmitting very positive energy. Practically since the Champions League round of 16, PSG has been at a very high level and it will be a very big challenge for us," Xabi Alonso said in a press conference after his club’s quarter-final victory over Borussia Dortmund (3-2).

And he added: "Now we have to win the semi-final. Hopefully we will reach the final, that we will improve and grow as a team. We are much closer to it now and we will continue like this, the pace is good."
