The mayor of Casablanca Nabila Rmili accused of protecting a "real estate mafia

The president of the Aïn Sebaâ district, Youssef Lahsinia, has sparked a heated controversy by sending a letter of denunciation to the mayor of Casablanca. The member of the Party of the Popular Movement directly accuses Nabila Rmili of "collusion" with real estate developers and of covering up blatant violations of the urban planning laws in force.

At the heart of the dispute is the granting of permits for buildings that do not comply with the mandatory parking ratios. While the law requires one parking space per apartment, Lahsinia cites projects of 30 housing units with only 20 spaces. This practice would allow developers to generate millions of additional dirhams in profit at the expense of residents.

Faced with these alerts, the municipality’s response was categorical. The mayor of Casablanca has reprimanded the district president, arguing that he had no legal competence to intervene in this specific case. She has also turned the accusation around, invoking a possible "abuse of power" on the part of the local elected official.

Determined to defend the interests of residents, Youssef Lahsinia says he is now ready to take the matter to court. He describes the situation as a major "urban planning scandal" and is calling for an official investigation to establish the responsibilities of all parties involved in the management of these controversial permits.
