Casablanca Mayor Unveils Major Infrastructure Projects and Urban Park Expansion

The mayor of Casablanca, Nabila Rmili, on Monday, during the session of the municipal council, provided an update on the progress of infrastructure projects underway in the economic capital, without failing to raise the difficulties encountered.
The rehabilitation work on the former Mediouna landfill is progressing at a good pace and should be completed by the end of the year, said Nabila Rmili, specifying that this site will be transformed into a leisure park. The mayor of Casablanca also announced the completion of several parks, including the one in "Bechar Elkheir" in the Hay Mohammadi district and another in the Sbata district. A new park will be inaugurated every month in the city, she added.
As for the work on the "Corniche Aïn Sebaâ-Bernoussi", it is 70% complete. The work is scheduled to be completed by April 2025, said Nabila Rmili, who also presented the progress of the projects to rehabilitate the irrigation points with treated wastewater, to extend the park in the Maârif district, to redevelop "Souk Selk", and to build a sports complex in Derb Ghallef. The last two projects are in the finalization phase, she specified.
The official also announced the opening on October 27 of the "Casablancaise" sports and recreational complex, located in the Sidi Belyout district, whose management will be entrusted to the company "Sonarges". Similarly, several parking lots are under construction for a total amount of 400 million dirhams, continued Nabila Rmili, assuring that the rehabilitation work on the Mohammed V sports complex to bring it up to FIFA and CAF standards should be completed by the end of December 2024.
The mayor of the economic capital did not fail to mention the project to rehabilitate the Azbane roundabout, located in the Hay Hassani district, which aims to improve traffic flow in this area. In terms of transportation, Casablanca plans, in partnership with the National Railway Office (ONCF), to connect the "Hassan II Stadium" to Mohammed V Airport, as well as the rehabilitation of 13 main avenues and the "Ouled Ziane" bus station. New bus stations are also planned, including the one in Hay Hassani, which will be served by the tramway.
Regarding the delay in the opening of the Aïn Sebaâ zoo, Nabila Rmili explained that the municipality is facing financial difficulties and that negotiations are underway to overcome them. The city will mobilize 50 million dirhams for the purchase of animals and 18 million dirhams for the development of the park, whose management will be entrusted to the same company in charge of the management of the Mohammedia zoo.
