Massive Seizure: 13 Tons of Contaminated Dates Discovered in Marrakech Warehouse

Tons of dates unfit for consumption were seized this week in Marrakech. Informed, the National Office of Sanitary Safety of Food Products (ONSSA) proceeded with their destruction and an investigation was opened to identify the responsible parties and take appropriate measures.
According to the police sources cited by Barlamane, an initial quantity of around 13 tons was discovered in unsanitary conditions in a warehouse. They were intended for sale to juice manufacturers in the city.
The same sources report that a second operation carried out by the police of the Al Izdihar district, made it possible to discover in a car a significant quantity of dates unfit for consumption on the spot.
The hygiene control commission of the prefecture of Marrakech, bringing together in particular representatives of the municipal health service, the economic service of the region and the ONSSA, involved in the seizure, proceeded with the destruction of the seized quantity in the public landfill.
An investigation has been launched by the competent judicial services in order to determine the origin of these dates and the people involved in this food fraud.
