Moroccan Social Media Campaign Urges Boycott of Algerian Dates Ahead of Ramadan

Moroccan Internet users launched, before the start of Ramadan, a campaign to boycott Algerian dates on social networks, in order to "do justice" to the Moroccan farmers of the Figuig oasis expelled by the Algerian army on the one hand, and to encourage Moroccans to consume local dates on the other.
The campaign to boycott Algerian dates, which was launched with a simple anonymous post on Twitter on March 30, is intensifying online. Moroccan Internet users are using the hashtag #مقاطعة_التمور_الجزائرية (boycott of Algerian dates) in several posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. As a result, these posts are among the national trends on virtual platforms in the kingdom.
In launching this campaign, Moroccan Internet users intend not only to encourage the consumption of local dates to the detriment of those imported from Algeria, but also to do justice to the farmers of the Figuig oasis expelled by the Algerian army at the beginning of March. An Internet user even called on every Moroccan to be in solidarity with his "wounded" brothers in Figuig by participating in the campaign.
