Massive police campaign in Marrakech: hundreds of arrests

A large-scale police operation carried out in the medina of Marrakech made it possible to apprehend many individuals involved in various offenses. Drugs, attacks on public morals and traffic offenses are at the heart of the observed offenses.
No less than 87 people wanted at the national level and 759 others locally were arrested from August 24 to November 7, 2024. The law enforcement also seized large quantities of drugs: 8.5 kg of cannabis resin, 13 cocaine capsules, 6,751 hallucinogenic tablets, 33 glue tubes and more than 9,500 liters of counterfeit alcohol (Mahia).
The operation also targeted attacks on public morals with the arrest of 114 people. 27 parking attendants, 231 people for vagrancy and 147 beggars were also apprehended. Finally, 267 people suffering from mental disorders were taken care of.
Regarding criminal acts, 2,262 people were arrested in flagrante delicto. The identity of 18,751 people was checked. 13 tourist establishments serving alcohol without authorization were closed and their managers brought to justice.
