Marrakech Police Crackdown Targets Urban Crime and Illegal Activities

Several people have been arrested in Marrakech for prostitution, alcohol consumption, begging and others as part of the fight against urban incivilities.
Jemaa el-Fna square and its surroundings are facing deviant behaviors. Complying with the instructions of the wali, the police services have launched a vast campaign to fight against these urban incivilities. Supervised by the local authorities, this campaign is already bearing fruit: four people illegally practicing the profession of tourist guide have been arrested. 7 people were apprehended for vagrancy, 11 others for begging, 7 people for dangerous driving. Four individuals were arrested for alcohol consumption, four others for prostitution, and two people for gambling.
This campaign, which is part of the action plan recently launched by the Wilaya of Marrakech to repress exhibitionist and dangerous behaviors as well as violations of the Highway Code that threaten the safety of road users and the safety of citizens, but also to fight against various crimes that affect the sense of security in public space, brings relief to the merchants and professionals of Jemaa el-Fna square.
