Massive Drug and Contraband Bust Destroyed in Dakhla: 6.5 Tons of Cannabis Among Seized Items

About 6.5 tons of cannabis resin, nearly 7 tons of flavored tobacco (maassel), 110,806 packs of cigarettes, about 58 kg of ground tobacco and 193 psychotropic tablets were destroyed at the controlled landfill of Al Argoub (province of Oued Eddahab).
The incineration also concerns 18,900 boxes of aphrodisiac products, 4,367 units and 104 kg of cosmetic products, 2.8 tons of expired food products and 1.2 tons of honey, reports the MAP.
Among these products that were seized over the past three months by the security services of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, there are also more than 12,826 boxes of medicines and veterinary products, 1,360 cartridges, 460 units of pesticides and 13,864 units of firecrackers. The destruction was carried out in the presence of representatives of the local authorities and the various security services, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
In a statement to the MAP, the Customs Ordinator in Dakhla, Taoufik Mohamed Abdouh, indicated that these prohibited products were seized by customs and other security services as part of efforts to combat smuggling and international drug trafficking.
