Algeria-Morocco Thaw? Embassy Renovations Spark Diplomatic Speculation

Signs indicate that Algeria, which unilaterally severed ties with its western neighbor in August 2021, is on the verge of normalizing its relations with Morocco.
Currently, the building of the Algerian embassy in Morocco is undergoing facade repairs. The walls are being repainted and the interior spaces are being cleaned. These are signs that leave room for various interpretations. Are the Algerians on the verge of normalizing their relations with Morocco?, wonder some observers. A question worth asking, since in his Throne speech, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed the policy of the outstretched hand towards the eastern neighbor of the kingdom.
However, Algerian media close to the authorities, some of which are considered close to the "Mechouar Palace" (Qasr El-Mouradia), rule out any political dimension to this approach. There is no question of normalizing relations between Algiers and Rabat. These restoration works are only an "initiative testifying to the attachment of the Algerian state, through its diplomatic missions abroad, to preserve its national assets," they specified.
These media were keen to emphasize that these operations "are common and regularly include the repair of the exterior facade, the repainting of the walls and the cleaning of the interior spaces." These restoration works are "part of Algeria’s well-established policy of preserving its real estate assets abroad," added the same sources.
