Massive Cocaine Bust: Drugs Hidden in Tuna Shipment at Moroccan Port

A joint operation carried out by Moroccan customs and police has thwarted an attempt at international drug trafficking via maritime containers. This operation took place at the Tanger Med port and resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of drugs hidden in tuna entrails.
The investigation conducted by the prefectural judicial police service in Tangier has uncovered a transnational criminal network involved in this attempt to traffic cocaine. Preliminary data indicates that the refrigerated maritime container, coming from Ecuador and destined for Spain, was suspected of being used to conceal the drugs among a cargo of fish.
The inspection procedures made it possible to seize the cocaine shipments, carefully packaged in tuna entrails, which are currently undergoing an extraction process before being subjected to the final weighing operation.
The Moroccan authorities are conducting research and investigations to unmask and identify all members of this international criminal network, whether in the country of origin of the trafficking or the final destination country. These investigations are being carried out in coordination with the National Central Bureaus under Interpol.
