Marseille’s Amine Harit Addresses Form Slump Following AFCON Return

Aware of his drop in level with OM after his disappointing participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023), Atlas Lion Amine Harit tried to explain the reasons for his poor form.
"Before leaving for the Africa Cup, I really felt good. But between the adaptation and the fact that I didn’t play much, I lost my rhythm. It’s not an excuse, but coming back, I felt less fresh. I was less good in the last 4 or 5 games, but I felt better in these last two games. I knew it would take me time to regain my rhythm from last year, but the AFCON really slowed me down, I was doing well," explained Amine Harit at a press conference. The Moroccan international remains confident for the upcoming matches, however. "I’ve had a very difficult 7-8 months. Mentally, I’m ready to face any challenge. I’ve learned a lot about myself. The support of the staff, the coach and the president has done me a lot of good," he added.
On November 13, 2022, Harit was substituted in the 62nd minute of the Ligue 1 match Monaco-OM (2-3). He was suffering from a sprained left knee ligaments. This serious injury kept him away from the pitch for more than a year. He had notably missed the World Cup in Qatar, during which his teammates reached the semi-finals, making Morocco the first African country to reach this stage of the competition. Recovered from his injury, he participated in the AFCON Côte d’Ivoire. A disappointing experience, as the Atlas Lions’ adventure ended in the round of 16.
