Marrakech Rebounds: Major Events Return to Boost Tourism in Moroccan City

The city of Marrakech is gradually reconnecting with major events since the easing of restrictive measures, with fashion shows, medical congresses, etc. making a comeback.
The ochre city is timidly regaining its lively atmosphere, much to the delight of tourism professionals. It is not yet the dynamics of the pre-Covid-19 period, when hotels were fully booked and the city hosted more than 200 events per month during the last quarter of the year.
But in reality, Marrakech continues to be one of the most popular and attractive destinations in the world and manages to seduce investors and organizers of international events, reports L’Économiste.
According to the newspaper, there have been signs for a few weeks now of the return of VIPs to the city. Among the first harbingers: the holding last weekend of Mina Binebine’s fashion show, the launch of Fati Jamali’s 3rd clip, an actress and singer who chose Marrakech to present her latest single and held a mini-concert for the occasion.
Even before that, last week, two grand weddings were organized on the magical sites and decors of the ochre city, the newspaper reports. The first, that of Count Alfonso Galobart, lasted three days in different places. The second is that of the daughter of a Moroccan-Israeli businessman who celebrated his wedding in the city of Marrakech and reserved the Mamounia hotel for the occasion.
In addition to the direct or indirect spin-offs they are sure to generate on the tourism ecosystem, these prestigious events represent a strategic communication opportunity for the Marrakech destination, offering it unique visibility on the international stage. As such, they represent a real breath of fresh air for the city shaken by the Covid-19 crisis.
