Marrakech Plans Underground Parking to Ease City Center Congestion

Marrakech wants to eliminate congestion in the city center. To achieve this, the municipality is banking on the construction of a multi-level underground parking lot on the Place du 16 Novembre.
Good news for motorists. Marrakech plans to build a multi-level underground parking lot on the Place du 16 Novembre, located at the intersection of the main arteries of the Gueliz district, an essential thoroughfare, offering privileged access to the commercial, tourist and artistic activities of the city. An open call for tenders for the preliminary study for the realization of this parking lot has already been launched, reports Challenge. The study should last eight months.
The future underground parking lot will be built on a planned area of 12,000 m². With this infrastructure, the ochre city will be able to fill the parking deficit, but it will also promote the development of local commerce and tourism. This project is located between Avenue Hassan II, Rue Oued El Makhazine and the Al Harti gardens. It is expected to be harmoniously integrated into the urban landscape of Marrakech, and to provide a practical and modern solution to the problems of traffic and parking.
The urban municipality of Marrakech is the project owner. As for the company Marrakech Mobility (ex. Bus City Motajadida), it ensures the delegated project management.
