Marrakech Opens 100-Bed Field Hospital for Severe COVID-19 Cases

The large tent set up within the Ibn Tofail hospital can now accommodate serious cases of Covid-19 contamination. It includes 100 beds equipped with oxygen.
The Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region visited the site to boost the morale of the medical staff. During this visit, Karim Kassi-Lahlou congratulated the efforts made to set up the tent in record time. However, he called for the rapid completion of the finishing touches so that the patients can focus solely on their recovery.
In a statement to MAP, the director of the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center in Marrakech explained that this hospital unit includes a first part dedicated to intensive care and another for pre-resuscitation. Its two services are equipped with medical and biomedical equipment capable of helping to manage critical and serious cases. The objective is to decongest the hospitals, due to the multiplication of contamination cases.
According to Lahcen Boukhanni, if the bed capacity proves insufficient, the authorities will always be able to extend it, since the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center is dedicated to the management of critical and serious cases of contamination by the new coronavirus. The development of this health unit in Marrakech is part of the measures taken by the Ministry of Health to strengthen the patient care system, the same source specifies.
