Marrakech's Jardin Majorelle Named Among World's Top 10 Most Relaxing Destinations

A Moroccan site is among the top 10 most relaxing tourist destinations in the world. This is the result of the ranking of a specialized website.

Jardin Majorelle (Marrakech) ranks 9th in the ranking of the 10 most relaxing tourist destinations in the world, compiled by the specialized website SpaSeekers.com. Described as one of the most mysterious gardens in the kingdom, the Jardin Majorelle was designed in 1929 by the French painter Jacques Majorelle (1886-1962). He was inspired by oases, Islamic gardens and Spanish-Hispano-Moorish gardens. It is a tourist botanical garden of about 300 species on nearly one hectare, an Art Deco villa labeled Maisons des Illustres since 2011, and a Berber Arts Museum, in Marrakech. The Jardin Majorelle is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The Blue Lagoon, a spa resort located in southwest Iceland, tops the ranking. It is followed by the Széchenyi Thermal Baths and Thermae Bath Spa (England). The Luxembourg Gardens (France) are in 4th place. Then come Parque del Retiro (Madrid - Spain), Gardens by the Bay, an urban nature park located in the Central Region of Singapore, the Hanmer Springs thermal pools (New Zealand) and St-Stephens Green, one of the oldest public parks in Ireland, located in Dublin. The Royal Botanic Gardens of Victoria (Australia) complete the top 10.

To establish the ranking, a team of researchers from SpaSeekers.com took into account online travel reviews (reviews) for sites around the world. Then, they counted the number of times the word "relaxing" was used for each of them. For the purposes of the study, the results excluded all places specifically designed for relaxation, such as spas or luxury hotels, except for sites that incorporate natural hot springs into the experience, it is reported.
