Marrakech’s Hidden Spanish Twin: Influencer Uncovers Startling Architectural Links
Maddie’s Mundo, an American influencer residing in Spain, shared on her social networks her travel experience in Marrakech, claiming that the ochre city has very strong similarities with other Spanish cities.
In a video on TikTok, the young woman reveals the similarities between Marrakech and other Spanish cities, showing the Koutoubia Mosque, one of the most important in the ochre city. "Look at this building. It is exactly identical to the Giralda in Seville," she marvels.
According to the influencer, these two mosques share the same history, with the Giralda in the Andalusian capital being inspired by the one in the Moroccan city. "This is perfectly logical, because Spain was conquered by the Moors. Spanish is very influenced by Arabic," explains the American.
"If you’ve already been to Morocco and southern Spain, you’ve surely noticed the similarities between these two places," she concludes.
