Marrakech Expands Probe into Illegal Construction, Targets Local Officials

After the auxiliary authorities, it is the turn of the authority agents to be targeted by an investigation linked to the proliferation of anarchic constructions in Marrakech. The sanctions imposed on the auxiliary authorities have shown the commission the need to turn to the authority agents to assess their level of involvement.
A report on the proliferation of anarchic constructions in the Gueliz district of Marrakech was the trigger. In this file, 4 auxiliary authorities were dismissed from their duties, and a fifth was given a warning, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
The same source adds that the members of this commission set up by the Ministry of the Interior discovered that at least a dozen constructions have emerged without respecting the law. The president of the district and several other authority agents were questioned in order to define the responsibilities of each in this case.
