The Marrakech-Essaouira journey in 1 hour, the high-speed train project is taking shape

The announcement was made by the Minister of Transport, Abdelssamad Kayouh, during a parliamentary meeting. The project covers a distance of approximately 120 kilometers and aims to reduce the journey time between the two tourist cities to about one hour, compared to more than two and a half hours by road currently.

A branch of the Marrakech-Agadir high-speed train project

This new connection is actually a branch of the Marrakech-Agadir high-speed train project. This main section, 240 kilometers long, is intended to connect the ochre city to the capital of the Souss region in 1 hour and 22 minutes.

The minister specified the progress of this new line to Essaouira. The detailed preliminary studies are already approximately 60% completed. The design and execution studies are also finalized. Furthermore, the priority land expropriation operations necessary for the project’s route have been initiated.
