Marrakech Emerges as Budget-Friendly Gem for Canadian Travelers
A Moroccan city is ranked among the top 10 travel destinations offering the best value for money for Canadians, based on year-over-year price drops for economy class flights.
With a 16% price drop, Marrakech ranks 10th in the top 10 travel destinations offering the best value for money for Canadians, based on year-over-year price drops for economy class flights, as established by Skyscanner, a flight, rental car and hotel search engine. The platform says it found, following a global survey of 22,000 travelers in June and July, that 62% of Canadians consider the cost of flights as the most decisive factor in choosing a vacation destination. "Travelers are planning with more purpose, shaping trips that reflect who they are and what matters most, at a price that suits them," says Skyscanner CEO Bryan Batista in a press release.
According to the platform, Canadians are looking for "cultural discovery, coastal charm and vibrant urban life" for their 2026 travels. Skyscanner travel expert Laura Lindsay notes that travelers are redefining the meaning of exploration, whether it’s taking care of themselves through [beauty-inspired] trips, seeking serenity in the mountains or drawing inspiration from literature. She adds: "2026 is the year when travel becomes personal, and it’s not limited to the destinations themselves."
Lyon (France) tops the ranking with a 35% price drop. It is followed by the Irish city of Dublin (29% price drop). With a 22% price drop, Seoul (South Korea) is in third place. Next come the Romanian city of Bucharest (21% price drop), the Swiss city of Zurich (21% price drop) and the Italian city of Venice (20% price drop). The Portuguese city of Ponta Delgada takes seventh place with a 20% price drop, while the Mexican city of Mexico City takes eighth place with a 16% price drop. Dubai (United Arab Emirates) takes ninth place with a 16% price drop.
