Marrakech Builds 200-Bed Field Hospital to Treat Surge in COVID-19 Cases

In order to decongest the hospitals of Marrakech, the authorities have decided to set up an additional tent that will take care of people infected with Covid-19. The Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, Governor of the Prefecture of Marrakech, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, launched the work to set up the infrastructure.
The new tent covers an area of 1,600 m², with a capacity of 200 beds equipped with all the necessary health equipment to care for critical Covid-19 cases. During the ceremony to launch the work, Kassi-Lahlou praised the efforts and sacrifices made by health professionals before calling for the acceleration of the work so that this health facility can receive as soon as possible the Covid-19 cases that are only increasing at the national level in general and in the Marrakech-Safi region in particular.
This is the second tent reserved for Covid-19 patients that the authorities are setting up after the one installed within the Ibn Tofail hospital of the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center (CHU) in Marrakech.
Concerned about the cases of contamination, the local authorities called on the inhabitants of the prefecture of Marrakech to strictly respect the rules of hygiene and health safety and to rigorously observe the preventive measures decreed by the authorities.
