Marrakech Airport Transformation 2026 Upgrade Projects

Marrakech-Menara Airport is preparing for a new phase of work. In its provisional market program for 2026, the National Airport Authority plans several operations affecting both spaces visible to travelers and the technical infrastructure of the platform, according to an ONDA document.

One of the most directly noticeable projects for passengers concerns the renovation and upgrade of the terminal esplanade. The program notably mentions benches, a smoking area and waste bins. These facilities may seem secondary, but they play an important role in passenger comfort, particularly during peak periods.

Exterior lighting is also targeted. ONDA plans to upgrade lighting in the cargo aircraft parking area, the official building parking lot, the car parking and exterior lighting of Marrakech-Menara Airport. The document also mentions the installation of solar projectors for lighting the perimeter path, a project scheduled for the fourth quarter.

Visible work, but also technical projects

Modernization is not limited to the terminal surroundings. The program also provides for maintenance of Marrakech-Menara Airport buildings, with work on glazing, carpentry, coatings, waterproofing, plaster, sanitary facilities, hardware and painting. Current cleaning and specialized cleaning services are also included in the program.

Several projects involve networks and basic infrastructure. ONDA plans to upgrade the wastewater network for connection to the liquid sanitation network of SRM Marrakech-Safi, as well as upgrade and maintenance of the plumbing network, water networks and hydraulic technical facilities. A hydraulic technical facility must also be built on the FBO side.

The airport is also affected by broader operations related to its capacity. The program mentions the development of aeronautical, road infrastructure and various networks at Marrakech-Menara, as well as the extension of its movement area. These projects are less visible to travelers, but they are essential to support air activity and improve the overall functioning of the platform.

Finally, ONDA plans the development of two waste disposal sites, on the runway side and city side, in accordance with environmental standards. Again, this is not a spectacular project, but a necessary element to adapt the airport to more modern requirements for management and operations.

Taken together, these projects outline a gradual transformation of Marrakech-Menara. The airport is not just preparing cosmetic improvements.
