Maroc Telecom Subsidiary Launches 5G Test in Gabon’s Capital

Gabon Telecom, a subsidiary of the Maroc Telecom group, launched, this Friday, November 22, a full-scale test of 5G on 3 sites in the Gabonese capital.
The experiment will take place on the sites of La Sablière, the Boulevard Triomphal and the Interministerial Building. Its duration is 6 months, but it could be extended up to a year, specifies the Map.
The subsidiary of the Maroc Telecom Group is now one of the first telecom operators in Africa to experiment with 5G, noted its CEO Abderrahim Koumaa.
According to him, the 5G experiment will make it possible to assess the interest of this technology for innovative applications in the covered areas and to draw lessons from it for its future development.
For Lin Monbo, president of ARCEP, the effective launch of 5G requires colossal investments and this experiment will allow Gabon Telecom to assess the time needed for this technology to be introduced in the country.
