Maroc Telecom Addresses Internet Slowdown During Planned Cable Maintenance

Maroc Telecom is aware of the slowness of browsing on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social networks. In a press release, the Telecom operator reassured its customers while explaining that this malfunction would have occurred during the regular maintenance of network infrastructures.
In this press release, Maroc Telecom announced that a voluntary cut of the Atlas Offshore submarine cable, connecting Asilah to Marseille, occurred on Friday, February 19, 2021 for a scheduled restoration on February 25, 2021.
According to the operator, this operation aims to anticipate quality of service issues and performance improvements. It specifies that during this operation, all international traffic transiting through the said cable was transferred to the Loukkos submarine cable connecting Asilah to Seville.
While apologizing to its customers, Maroc Telecom claims to have restored the situation last Monday evening before the restoration of the Atlas Offshore submarine cable.
