Morocco Demolishes 400 Illegal Beach Shacks in Bouznika Ahead of Major Sports Events

The demolition of these shacks on the Dahomey beach is the first of a series. The operation aims to raze all these "temporary occupation" habitats erected in violation of regulatory texts, following administrative arrangements, reports Challenge, specifying that it could extend to the north beach of Bouznika. In total, some 400 shacks should be razed.

In the perspective of the 2025 Africa Cup and the 2030 World Cup, the Moroccan authorities have embarked on reforms aimed at promoting the development of certain regions and spaces, including the Dahomey beach, considered a "black spot" on the southern coast of Bouznika.

The decision to demolish these informal shacks on the Dahomey beach has sparked the anger of some owners who blame the authorities for their lack of communication and for not having involved them in this decision.
