Marbella: Three Moroccans arrested after a shootout and the seizure of a ton of cocaine
The Spanish police dismantled a drug trafficking network in Marbella, seizing more than a ton of cocaine in an underground bunker. The operation led to the arrest of four suspects, including Moroccans, after a shootout in a wooded area.
The intervention began in the Ricmar woods after the spotting of a suspicious vehicle near a residential area of the Costa del Sol. On site, the Udyco agents came across an attempted "rip-off": armed individuals, dressed in Guardia Civil vests, were attacking a man to steal his merchandise.
A chase then ensued, during which the criminals opened fire on the law enforcement officers. The investigators finally arrested four individuals — three Moroccan nationals and one Spaniard — all repeat offenders. They are now being prosecuted for attempted homicide, possession of war weapons and drug trafficking, reports ABC.es.
Thorough investigations in the forest led to the location of a sophisticated bunker, protected by a video surveillance system. Inside this underground hideout, described by the organized crime unit as being "like a hidden cove", the police found 1,056 kg of cocaine.
The seized arsenal testifies to the firepower of the criminal group: an AK-47 assault rifle, an AR15, a UZI submachine gun and three handguns were confiscated. The agents also recovered three luxury vehicles, two of which were stolen, as well as frequency jammers and state-of-the-art communication equipment.
