Mandarins: Morocco signs one of the strongest increases in Russia

Data from the Russian Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Agency (Rosselkhoznadzor) confirm this trade dynamic. Shipments of Moroccan mandarins have increased from 18,200 to 31,600 tons. This performance contrasts sharply with the situation in Egypt, whose shipments have fallen by 51%, but joins the growth observed in other suppliers such as South Africa and China, whose exports have increased by 42% and 27.5% respectively.

Although Turkey retains its hegemonic leading position with 47% of the market, Morocco is consolidating its fifth position with 5% of total imports. This success is explained by the reputation of the product. Irina Kozy, a member of the Union of Producers in Russia, confirms that Moroccan clementines and mandarins enjoy "great popularity" among local consumers, particularly during the peak consumption period from November to January.

This strengthening of trade is taking place in a changing market. Global demand for these citrus fruits has risen by 7% in one year, leading to a 17% increase in the average price per kilogram. This inflation is attributed to weather conditions in producing countries, logistical challenges, and the volatility of the ruble exchange rate.
