Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Fatal Assault in El Jadida, Morocco

An individual was accused by the Criminal Chamber near the Court of Appeal of El Jadida for a routine case of assault and battery resulting in death. He is sentenced to 12 years in prison.
A routine incident, which could have been settled differently, between two friends, resulted in the death of the first and the imprisonment of the second. The accused is found guilty of assault and battery resulting in death, without the intention to give it. He is ultimately sentenced to 12 years in criminal detention, reports Aujourd’hui Le Maroc.
Accused of stealing the gold chain that the victim had lost during a well-attended evening in which they both participated, the defendant, who claims to have been surprised by the victim armed with a knife, had no choice but to disarm him. In an advanced state of drunkenness, this Sunday, January 20, 2019, the day of the murder, in a hair salon in El Jadida, the accused, after recovering the bladed weapon, failed to throw it away. Unexpectedly, he stabbed his friend in the chest before fleeing. He will unfortunately be arrested two hours later by the elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, notes the same source.
At the bar, the accused pleads guilty but does not fail to find a mitigating circumstance: he was in an advanced state of drunkenness. The verdict pronounced is enough to sober him up: 12 years of criminal detention, for assault and battery resulting in death, without the intention to give it.
