Man with Mental Illness Disrupts Prayer at Casablanca Mosque, Causes Panic
An individual was arrested on Friday, during prayer, for bursting into a mosque in the Habous district of Casablanca and threatening the safety of the worshippers and the imam. The intruder, who suffers from mental disorders, caused panic.
The rumor of the assault on the imam of the mosque would be unfounded, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security, which stresses that only the microphone of the room would have been destroyed by the aggressor.
The suspect, who has psychological disorders, was quickly caught by a patrol from the Casablanca-El Fida police station, without the sermon being interrupted by the incident.
The DGSN also states that no attempt at physical or verbal aggression against the worshippers or the imam was reported by the Casa-El Fida police services. The suspect was admitted to the psychiatric hospital.
