Mali Condemns ’Cowardly’ Attack on Moroccan Truck Drivers, Expresses Outrage

Two days after the attack perpetrated on September 11 in the commune of Didiéni against Moroccan truck drivers, Mali strongly condemned a "cowardly and barbaric attack".
It was through the voice of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, that the Malian transitional government spoke out about the attack on two Moroccans in the Kayes region, reports the MAP.
At the end of the audience granted on Monday by Abdoulaye Diop to the Moroccan Ambassador to Mali and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Hassan Naciri, the Malian Foreign Minister "strongly condemned, on behalf of the President of the Transition, Head of State, HE Colonel Assimi Goita and the government, the cowardly and barbaric attack perpetrated by unidentified armed individuals," according to a press release made public.
"On this painful occasion, the minister expressed, on behalf of the President of the Transition and the Government, all the compassion and solidarity of Mali with the friendly government and people of Morocco," the note continues, stressing that the minister presented his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Moreover, the head of Malian diplomacy informed the ambassador that since the attack, the ministries in charge of security, defense and health have all taken appropriate measures, each in their own field.
Minister Diop expressed the commitment of the Malian authorities to do everything in their power to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
