The events took place in the commune of Didiéni, about 300 km from Bamako. As the Moroccan drivers were driving towards the Malian capital in trucks carrying goods, a group of armed men hidden behind trees by the side of the road opened fire on them, reports the embassy of the Kingdom in Mali. The toll is two dead and one injured. The latter, whose condition does not give cause for concern, was transferred to a local hospital for treatment, it is specified. The bodies of the two victims are being transported to Bamako.
The assailants were hooded, wore bulletproof vests and had communication devices, witnesses say. They did not steal any objects from the victims. The Moroccan embassy in Bamako is in contact with the competent authorities in both countries, as well as with the relatives of the Moroccan drivers to take the necessary measures, the MAP reports. Similarly, a request for the opening of an investigation must be transmitted to the Malian authorities in order to shed light on the circumstances of this attack, and the necessary measures to be taken.
