The investigation into the largest international drug trafficking case ever handled by the Rabat Financial Crimes Court continues. The elements of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) arrested another notorious drug trafficker last weekend at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar.
Four months ago, the BCIJ was arresting the most famous drug baron in Morocco, the so-called Temsamani of Spanish nationality who was on the run abroad. After being held in custody for 72 hours under the supervision of the Attorney General at the Rabat Court of Appeal, he was brought before the investigating judge on Monday, who prosecuted him for drug trafficking, and he was incarcerated in the El Arjat prison.
The case dates back to 2016. In total, 72 individuals, including senior police and gendarmerie officials, had received cumulative sentences of 250 years in prison.
