Major Cannabis Trafficking Ring Busted Near Luxembourg: 1,300 Kilos Seized, 5 Arrested

The Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (JIRS) of Nancy has managed to dismantle a cannabis trafficking operation between Morocco and Spain and seize 1,300 kilos of cannabis. In total, five people were arrested, three of whom were placed in pre-trial detention.
This is the result of an investigation started from an "anonymous information" "mentioning a massive and regular import of cannabis from Spain or Morocco, by an individual residing in Moselle, and who was assisted by several other individuals", according to Wort.lu. On June 8, 2022, five individuals were arrested in Metz and Hettange-Grande, a few kilometers from Luxembourg. Among them, the alleged organizer of the traffic and three men aged 40 to 52 who resided in Moselle and one of them in Spain. They were all indicted for "organized importation and drug trafficking". Three of them were placed in pre-trial detention, the other two under judicial supervision, it is specified.
The investigators seized a "record" quantity of 1.3 tons of cannabis in Metz and Hettange-Grande, near Luxembourg, and "criminal assets" estimated at 396,000 euros. They found the "merchandise" in pallets of food products in a warehouse in Hettange-Grande and Metz. According to the elements of the investigation, the cannabis was to be gradually disposed of.
