Made in Morocco" Floods Europe: How Moroccan Tomatoes Are Catching Up to Spain
During the 2024-2025 season, Morocco exported an unprecedented volume of 745,000 tons of tomatoes. This historic performance elevates the kingdom to third place among European continent suppliers, behind Spain and the Netherlands.
This commercial momentum reflects spectacular growth. Over the course of a decade, Moroccan shipments have surged nearly 80%, according to the specialized platform Fresh Plaza. France remains the primary gateway for these goods, absorbing more than half the volumes.
A large portion of these products then transits through the Perpignan platform to be redistributed toward Germany and Northern Europe. However, facing soaring prices on its own territory, Morocco has recently reduced its shipments, which mechanically triggered a price increase on European markets.
