Luxury Shopping Boom: Moroccan Tourists Flock to Seville for Designer Deals

Seville has become the destination of choice for Moroccans for luxury tourism. More and more travelers are going to the Andalusian capital from Casablanca to go shopping.

Buying Bimba y Lola bags, Adolfo Domínguez skirts or a Swarovski watch. This is the new trend of Moroccan tourists who are rushing to the low-priced stores of the Sevilla Fashion Outlet, a premium brand center. In these stores, you can find major brand products like Karl Lagerfeld, Nike, Under Armour or Columbia, Scalpers or Silbon, with discounts of up to 60% on the original price.

The Moroccan tourist can get a Bimba y Lola bag for 1,200 euros, a Boss pants for over 500 euros and a Swarovski ring for 700 euros. This year, the influx of foreign tourists has boosted sales in this center by 12%, reports El Español, specifying that Moroccans are the first non-EU foreigners to shop in these stores. They account for 61% of total purchases, far exceeding Argentines (4%) and Colombians (2%).

This increase in the arrival of Moroccan tourists is due to the increase in direct air links between Seville and the Moroccan cities of Marrakech, Rabat, Tangier and Casablanca. The first three are operated by Ryanair and the last one by Royal Air Maroc, which has been operating up to four flights per week on this route since last August. Last year, 70,526 Moroccan tourists arrived in Seville according to data from the Moroccan National Tourist Office.
