Long Delays Frustrate Moroccan Expatriates at Melilla Border Crossing

Many Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) wishing to celebrate Eid al-Adha and spend their summer vacation in Morocco are stuck at the Beni Ensar border near Melilla. They complain about the endless queues and the relatively long waiting time.
These Moroccans residing in Melilla as well as in other Spanish cities or European countries denounce the slowness in traffic at the Beni Ensar border. This traffic jam would be due to the new control measures put in place by the Spanish and Moroccan authorities at the border posts of Beni Ensar in Melilla and Tarajal in Ceuta, reports the website Rue20.
As a result, the MREs who have chosen to use Melilla to reach Morocco as part of the Marhaba Operation find themselves spending hours in long queues and under the sun before crossing the border. Exasperated by this situation, many travelers residing in the autonomous city had to return home, awaiting a normalization of traffic at the border.
