Elissa, the diva of Lebanese music, would like to sing in Darija. She said so during a press conference she held on the eve of her show. She is a guest at the "Mawazine Rhythms of the World" Festival, which is being held from June 21 to 29 in Rabat.
"I am very happy to be in Morocco and to meet the ’Mawazine’ audience," she told the media the day before her show on the "Nahda" stage. Highly anticipated by the public, the 46-year-old star confided to the press that she is completely cured of her cancer and has a great fondness for Darija: "I would love to sing in Moroccan dialect or in other languages such as Khaliji, except that I only master my official language and the Egyptian dialect," Elissa said. And she added: "If one day I am offered a Moroccan song that matches my musical style and that I will be able to master, I can do it."
Reflecting on her participation in the "The Voice Arab" program, the one who is cataloged as one of the stars of the Middle East, said she had a great experience participating in such a show as a jury member, adding that she would gladly accept if the MBC group invited her a second time.
Elissa’s debut dates back to 1999 with "Baddy Doub". Since then, the Lebanese star has several albums to her credit that have marked the musical world. We could mention "We Akhretha Maak" and "Ayshalak", as well as duets made with several stars, like Chris de Burgh, Ragheb Alameh and Cheb Mami. Elissa has also marked more than one, by winning the "Murex d’Or" three times as "Best Lebanese Female Artist".
Considered the "romantic voice", she has especially enchanted the Middle East, winning the "World Music Awards" three times (2005, 2006 and 2010), with three different albums: "Ahla Dounya", "Bastanak" and "Tesadaa Bemeen", indicates the same source.
