Lear Expands in Morocco: New Auto Parts Plant to Create 2,000+ Jobs in Meknes

The American automotive supplier Lear is strengthening its activities in Morocco with the inauguration in Meknes of a new plant, the 16th in the kingdom.
Specialized in the manufacture of automotive seats and electrical and electronic systems, the American group is one of the largest employers in the Kingdom with 18,000 employees spread across its various sites.
With an investment of 200 million DH, the new entity was built on an area of 54,000 m² (including 18,200 m² dedicated to production). The unit, which will also produce wiring for electric vehicles, is expected to generate more than 2,000 direct jobs, a figure that could reach 2,600 in 2023.
"Our industry continues to attract and retain global automotive industry leaders. This momentum is being consolidated today with the inauguration of the new Lear group plant, which once again renews its confidence in the Moroccan industrial platform and comes to meet the strong demand from the national automotive ecosystem whose performance is no longer to be demonstrated," said the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, present at the inauguration ceremony.
For the record, the American group Lear has been present in Morocco since 2003 through its plants in Rabat, Kenitra, Tangier and Meknes. It has an engineering center in Rabat employing more than 250 engineers.
