Lawyer Seeks Death Penalty for Terrorists in Morocco Hiking Murders

Khalid Elfataoui, the lawyer of Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, 24, one of the two victims of the Imlil massacre, intends to demand the death penalty as punishment for the terrorist murderers.
One of the lawyers for the families of the victims of the Imlil tragedy, Maître Khalid Elfataoui, who have joined the civil party in the trial, would have requested the death penalty against the terrorists, whereas he had previously stated that he would claim compensation.
In an interview with Alyaoum24, the lawyer explains: "From a legal point of view, the death penalty must be rejected because it deprives the being of his right to life. But given the cruelty of the crime, the families of the two victims have the right to demand severe punishment."
The lawyer explains that the fact of having killed the victims, then beheaded them, and filmed the entire scene, to share it with the mother of the Danish victim, is an unspeakable atrocity. Elfataoui also specifies: "since the legislator states this possibility of the death penalty, I see no obstacle to requesting it in order to achieve deterrence."
He also specifies that even the death penalty cannot mitigate the suffering experienced by those who have suffered from this tragedy, "not to mention the damage to the country’s reputation as well as the stability and security it enjoys."
